TRACK BY TRACK

I  Don't Wanna See You Again

The third Paul McCartney composition to be recorded by Peter & Gordon. It was issued on 11 September 1964, it reached no. 16 in America.

I hear that love is planned /How can I understand

When someone says to me / I don't wanna see you again

Why do I cry at night ? / Something wrong could be right

I hear you say to me / I don't wanna see you again

As you turned your back on me / You hid the light of the day

I didn't have to play / At being broken hearted

I know that later on / After love's been and gone

I'll still hear someone say / I don't wanna see you again

Nobody I Know

The second number from Paul to Peter & Gordon, issued on 24th May 1964 reached no. 9 in charts. Peter, Jane Asher's brother, at that time Paul's girlfriend, it would be Apple Record's Director, introduced to the market the composer/singer James Taylor and later gone along with him to America.

Nobody I know could love me more than you

You can give me so much love it seems untrue

Listen to the bird who sings it in the tree

And then when you heard him see if you agree

Nobody I know could love me more than you

Everywhere I go the sun comes shining through

Everyone I know is sure it shines for you

Even in my dreams I look into your eyes

Suddenly it seems I've found a paradise

Everywhere I go the sun comes shining through

It means so much to be a part / Of a heart of a wonderful one

When other lovers are gone / We'll live on, we'll live on

That Means A Lot

It was written by John and Paul for the album Help. The Beatles recorded it on 20 February 1965 but they gave up from it.   P.J. Proby recorded the song at Abbey Road Studios on 7 April 1965, but the recorded wasn't a hit for him.

A friend says that your love won't mean a lot

And you know that your love is all you got

At times things are so fine / And the times they're not

But when she says she loves you / That means a lot

A friend says that a love is never true

And you know that this can't apply to you

A touch can mean so much / When it's all you got

But when she says she loves you / That means a lot

Love can be deep inside

Love can be suicide

Can't you see you can't hide

What you feel when it's real

Woman

Paul wrote specially for Peter & Gordon. Paul used the pseudonym Bernard Webb when he wrote this song. When it entered to the charts, Paul admitted that he had written it but wanted to see if he could enter the charts without using the magical Lennon & McCartney name. The name of the song mustn't confounded with " Woman " recorded by Mike McGear ( Paul's brother ) and " Woman " recorded by John Lennon in 1980.

Woman, do you love me ? /  Woman , if you need me then believe me

I need you to be my woman

And should you ask me how I'm doing / What shall I say, things are o.k.

Well, I know that they're not / And I still may have lost you

And should you take your time and tell you / Love will come home when we're alone

I would give my world / If you'll say that my girl is my woman

I've got plenty of time / Help me just to get through it/ Once again you'll be mine

I still think we can do it / And you know how much I love you

Woman, don't forsake me / Woman, if you take me then believe me

I'll take you to be my woman

One And One Is Two

John &Paul wrote this song in January 1964 when they were staying in Paris. In according to " The Ultimate Beatles Encyclopedia " it is said that John commented " Billy J's career is finished when he gets the song ". Kramer didn't like it and the song was recorded by The Strangers and nothing happened.

One and one is two / What am I to do / Now that I'm in love with you

I'm hoping everyday / I'm gonna hear you say / You really make my wishes come true

Can't you feel when I'm holding you near / All the things I do

Show my love and I'm making it clear / One and one is two

Can't you see I loved you from the start / Do you love me too

I love you but you're breaking my heart / From wanting you

If you say that you're gonna be mine / Everything is alright

All the world would look so fine / If you'd mine tonight

World Without Love

Composition by Paul and the first of four songs he would give to Peter & Gordon. The number took the duo to the top in Britain and America, with world sales passing the million mark. The Beatles never recorded the song and it wasn't part of their repertoire.

Please lock me away /  And don't allow the day

Here inside where I hide / With my loneliness

I don't care what they say / I won't stay in a world without love

Birds sings out of tune / And rainclouds hide the moon

I'm o.k. here I'll stay / With my loneliness

I don't care what they say / I won't stay in a world without love

So I wait and in a while / I will see my true love smile / She may come, I know not when

When she does I'll know / So, baby, until then

Lock me away /  And don't allow the day

Here inside where I hide / With my loneliness

I don't care what they say / I won't stay in a world without love

I'll Be On My Way

Recorded by Billy J. Kramer it was used on the flipside of debut single " Do You Want To Know a Secret " issued in April 1963. The Beatles played it at  BBC radio show called " Side By Side " on 24 June 1963. That version was released on CD " Live At BBC " in 1994.

The sun is fading away / That's the end of the day

As the June light turns to moonlight /  I'll be on my way

It's just one kiss and I'll go / Don't hide the tears that don't show

When the June light turns to moonlight /  I'll be on my way

To where the winds don't blow / And golden rivers flow / This way I will go

They were right, I was wrong / True love didn't last long

As the June light turns to moonlight /  I'll be on my way

Bad To Me

Written by John Lennon for second Billy J. Kramer's single, it was issued on 26 July 1963. The disc brought to Billy his second no.1 chart in Britain selling more than a milion copies, at that time.

If you ever leave me I'll be sad and blue

Don't you ever leave me I'm so in love with you

The birds in the sky would be sad and lonely if they knew

That I lost my one and only / They'd be sad, don't be bad to me

The leaves in the trees would be softly sighing if they heard from the breeze

That you left me crying / They'd be sad, don't be bad to me

But I know you won't leave me / 'Cause you told me so

I have no intention of letting you go

Just as long as you let me know

You won't be bad to me

So the birds in the sky won't be sad and lonely 'cause they know

That I've got my one and only

They'll be glad, you're not bad to me

It's For You

Waltz composed by Paul for Cilla Black. The song was recorded on 2 july 1964. John and Paul attended the recording session, with Paul playing piano on the track. Singer from Liverpool, Cilla recorded " Love Of The Loved "  and " Step Inside Love " both penned by Lennon and McCartney.

I'd say someday / I'm bound to give my heart away /  When I do it's for you

Love, true love / Seems to be all I'm thinking of  / But it's true it's for you

They said that love was a lie / Told me that I should never try

To find somebody who'd be kind / Kind to only me

So I just tell them they're right / Who wants a fight ? / Tell them I quite agree

Nobody would love me / Then I look at you and

Love comes, Love shows / I give my heart

And no one knows that I do / It's for you

I'm In Love

Penned by John Lennon, who had made a demo on piano. It was recorded by The Fourmost and issued on 15 November 1963, reaching no. 12 in Britain. The group had already recorded " Hello Little Girl " by Lennon too, and in February 1969 their album called " Rosetta " had Paul McCartney as Producer and playing piano. There is another cover from " I'm Love " by Billy J. Kramer, that one it can be heard the John Lennon's voice at the Studio conducting the singer.

I've gotta tell you I'm in love / I've been longing to tell you I'm in love

You'll believe me when I tell you / I'm love with you

You're my kind of girl / You make me proud / You make me want to shout out aloud

I'm telling all my friends I'm in love

Every night I can't sleep, thinking of you / And every little thing that you do

I'm telling all my friends I'm in love

Oh yes, I'm feeling on the top of the world / I'm in love with a wonderful girl

I never felt so good before / If this is love give me more, more, more, more

Goodbye

A song which Paul McCartney wrote specially for Mary Hopkins. he made a well done demo playing acoustic guitar and produced the recording session. Issued on 28 March 1969, reached No.2 in Britain. Mary Hopkins got a lot of success with the songs " Those Were The Days " and " Que Sera Sera " both had Paul as Producer.

Please, don't make me up too late / Tomorrow comes and I will not be late

Late today when it becomes tomorrow /  I will leave and go away

Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye / Goodbye, my love, goodbye

Songs that lingered on my lips / Excite me now and linger on my mind

Leave your flowers at my door / I'll leave them for the one who waits behind

Far away my lover sings a lonely song / And calls me to her side

When a song of lonely love invites me on / I must go to her side

From A Window

Fourth song that Billy J. Kramer recieved from John Lennon and Paul McCartney. issued on 17 July 1964, reached No.13 in Britain. Billy recorded too " I'll Keep You Satisfied " by Lennon-McCartney. Paul still offered " Yesterday " to him, but Billy didn't like it.

Late yesterday night I saw a light shine from a window

And as I looked again your face came into sight

I couldn't walk on until you'd gone from your window

I had to make you mine I knew you were the one

Oh,I would be glad just to have a love like that / Oh,I would be true I would live my life for you

So meet me tonight just where the light shines from a window

And as I take your hand say that you'll be mine tonight

If you want it, here it is / Come and get it / Mm, mm, mm, mm, make your mind up fast

If you want it anytime / I can give it / But you better hurry 'cause it may not last

Did I hear you say that there must be a catch? / Will you walk away from a fool and his money ?

If you want it, Here it is / Come and get it / But you better hurry 'cause it's going fast
